I Want to Go Home
A very emotional drama about familial and cultural expectations — I Want to Go Home. Ravi finishes work, goes to the apartment which he shares with his sister, Preeti, to find her crumpled on the bathroom floor in a pool of blood. Prem, a recently arrived medical graduate from India, has aborted her baby, having abandoned Prem. Prem, pressured by family expectations, plans to follow his parents’ wishes and marry someone of their choosing. This being told to Ravi, he confronts Prem, and threatens his reputation. Prem eventually convinces his parents and marries Preeti, but the family dynamics remain fraught, and genuine relationships never fully form between Prem, Preeti, and Ravi.
Ravi and Preeti are no longer together after twenty years. Ravi receives a message from Prem one day who wants to reach him. To Ravi’s shock, he discovers that Preeti has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
